Single Review

There is always a buzz around any new release from Whirlwind D and that is understandable because, as an Emcee, he is adept at everything from Battle rhyming to Conscious rap and this new release is no exception.
With this release coming at a time when we are all spending most of our days inside it is extremely important to keep our energy and spirits up and Music is one of the best ways to do that. This new release will do all that and more.
Following on from the previous release, Doin’ it, Whirlwind D is again joined by French super producer DJAR One and long time friend and B-Line Recordings front man Specifik to bring you a dope new slice of real Hip Hop to see you through these strange times.

The lead track M.D.M. (Modern Day Media) see’s Whirlwind D focusing on the role of the media in our daily lives. He has touched on this subject before with Keep on Steppin’ from Specifik’s The Ill Circus and it is a subject that is even more appropriate in current situation we are all living in. it show’s that he has his finger well and truly on the pulse of society. Djar One’s production is a funky guitar driven banger that creates the perfect energy to help Whirlwind D’s lyrics seep deep into your soul. To cap it all of Specifik brings some quite sublime cuts to the track which gives the listener everything they need.

Flipping to the B side we have DJAR One bringing his production wizardry to remix Whirlwind D’s 2014 single Time Wait’s for No Man. The original is a track I have had on rotation for some time as it one of those tracks that is a wakeup call to not sit back and wait for things to happen but, to go out there and make them happen. The remix takes nothing away from the original but, just adds a different dimension to it by creating a chilled but, uplifting vibe with a laid back guitar loop and kind beat you can’t help but, nod to. Specifik again provides the kinda cuts that just add that extra depth to the track which has that summer BBQ vibe to it.

All in all, these two track’s show that Whirlwind D, Specifik and Djar One work so well together they have cracked it and are a definite force to be reckoned with and this release perfectly demonstrates exactly how music can give you knowledge whilst still be entertaining. This is something that has been the backbone of what Hip Hop is about for many years and in these times of upheaval it is important to maintain a grip on reality and sanity and music is the way to achieve that.

All vocals were mixed by the one and only Rola at Khameleon 107, mixing and mastering is by Djar One with executive production from Mr Fantastic (AE Productions) and Whirlwind D. The single is released through AE Productions and is a joint production by B-Line/Liberty Grooves and Tru-Tone. Artwork comes from Mr Krum.

The vinyl is already sold out and the digital release and video will be delayed due to the current situation but, keep watch as they are coming soon.

On that note, Stay Safe people
Steve
