It’s been a while since I dropped a single review so, I thought I’d get this one sorted as it has been one that I have put back due to time constraints.

Shoe Fits is a recent single release from TASH of the Alkaholiks and is the first release from an upcoming EP Attention Is The Drug, to be released through AlkaRhythm. The single is also produced by Sbvce.

Now, being a Hip Hop head, I have listened to the Likwit crew on and off over the years, and they have dropped some solid joints over those years. so, it’s a pleasure to be able to bring you my take on this single. I also have to give props to my man John Dugan (JD Hip Hop Reviews) who brought my attention to this one, otherwise it might have been one I missed.

So, lets get into this one…

Shoe Fits see’s Sbvce bring us a heavy bass drum driven sound with claps and keys to give us a sound that vibrates your mind from the get-go, getting you bouncing and nodding along. Tash uses his slick wordplay to bring us a highly enjoyable track that speaks on being comfortable in your own skin. The phrase ‘If The Shoe Fits’ is one of those phrases that can used both ways as a compliment or criticism, implying that something which is said or suggested about someone is true and they should accept it as such. So, while it can be used to promote humility and self-awareness, it can also be used in a derogatory fashion as well. Here TASH is simply saying that you should be comfortable as you are, be the person you want to be, so ‘If The Shoe Fits, Wear It’, it’s as simple as that.

The message in this track might be plain and simple but. It’s not one that is often put across in such a matter-of-fact way. TASH gives us the message plain simple and invites us to wear it as we see fit. It doesn’t matter what others think, it’s how you feel that counts. You have to be you, in the best way that makes you happy, and that is the key to this, you being the best expression of your true self and not something that comes from peer pressure.

It’s good to have that Likwit sound back with some new vibes and giving us something to think about as well as enjoy along the way.
